The theme of the Kingwood Tea Party Society’s final gathering at the larger venue of the Nathaniel Center Wednesday, Oct 27, was “Sacrifice for Freedom,” as the group honored American veterans and supported troops while highlighting current events involving the elections. Congressman Ted Poe introduced keynote speaker Marine Sgt. Eddie Wright to the audience. Wright was awarded the Bronze Star for his actions in the Iraq War in 2004. After his platoon’s Humvee was ambushed in Fallujah, a rocket-propelled grenade blew off his forearms and hands, and broke his leg, severing an artery. Despite his injuries, Wright maintained composure and directed a successful counterattack while leading his squad to safety. Photo: Marine Sgt.
