Lone Star College-Kingwood's Academy for Lifelong Learning’s (ALL) fall open house will be held Wednesday, Aug. 25, from 2 - 4 p.m. at the East Montgomery County Improvement District Complex, located at 21575 Highway 59 North in New Caney. The open house is an opportunity for individuals age 50 and older to meet others with common interests and to preview the fall 2010 ALL course offerings. Attendees can register to become a member of the ALL program. The ALL program offers non-credit courses, lectures and social activities for continued intellectual and personal growth. The curriculum offers a range of instruction from Conversational Spanish to Yoga to Digital Photography. Annual membership is $10 and all the courses offered are free and taught by volunteers. There are no educational requirements. The ALL program began 10 years ago at LSC-Montgomery. It has since grown to all five main Lone Star College System campuses. Every campus is always looking for community members who want to deliver a course. This is a volunteer program and lecturers are not paid but they have the opportunity to teach others about their areas of expertise. Courses include Texas History, Healthcare, Scrapbooking, Bridge, Painting and many others. There are also occasional day trips to Houston-area destinations.
