Lake Houston Family YMCA provides summer programs

The Lake Houston Family YMCA has been one of the top community non-profit organization for many years. This summer the YMCA is offering a wide range of fun activities for everyone to enjoy. Carol Sutton , communications and special events director, invites everyone to “take a “stay-cation” this summer at the YMCA. Our expansion and renovation is complete and as a full service member, you receive preferred pricing on any of our outstanding programs,” she explained. The YMCA provides swimming lessons that run for two weeks with classes offered Monday-Thursday at a cost of $50 for full service members and $85 for program members. The lessons are available to children 4 and older or 3 and younger with parent assistance. The YMCA Day Camp is also a popular event offered to children ages 5-14 for a unique camping experience that includes summer activities such as arts and crafts, character development, swimming and field trips. The YMCA provides summer sports programs to kids of various age groups. Full service members’ cost for summer sports is $60 and $90 for program members. An overnight camp is one of the great programs offered at the center. Kids who just want to spend the night away for a week camp out at the beautiful Camp Cullen in Livingston on Lake Livingston. The overnight camp is open to kids ages 8-16 and they participate in events such as horseback riding, water sports and more.
