The May 12 Rotary Club of Humble meeting was intended to be unforgettable for all members and guests in attendance by featured speaker Carmen Wisenbaker. The best-selling author of several works, including “52 Ways to Become Famous (and Sometimes Infamous),” and president of Penworth Marketing shared key steps to marketing any business. Her marketing plan focuses on cluing into to one’s audience and asking them directly what it is that they want to be informed about. By using the right language and reaching out to the audience without utilizing phrases to which they have been conditioned to ignore, an employer can cater to them exactly and thus become unforgettable. “It’s not up to you to decide how you’re going to be unforgettable,” she said. “It’s back in their hands.” She also mentioned four key cycles American society goes through. People in the caring phase feel that they have been mistreated and worn down by the economy and surrounding circumstances and are looking for business who care about them and their needs. Clients also want information to be made easy and accessible to them: Step one, step two, step three. The last two phases are luxurious and thrifty. “I want to be pampered. I want to be treated like a princess. I want a little extra for what I’m paying for,” Wisenbaker said. She believes that potential clients feel the same way.
