More than 300 of Houston’s best-dressed women gathered last week for fellowship and fundraising at the annual Go Red for Women Luncheon, sponsored by Kingwood Medical Center. The sell-out event took place at the Houston Airport Marriott and was hosted by event co-chairs Melinda Stephenson, hospital CEO, and Nancy Shortsleeve, hospital Board of Trustees Chair. The guests donned their best-red outfits and accessories to show their spirit for the cause. Guests enjoyed a wine reception and “purse-onality” auction, coordinated by Devon Alexander of Lone Star College, which included a variety of personalized handbags and totes. Jessica Wiley of KTRK Channel 13 emceed the event, and special guest speaker Mary Tyhurst shared her “survivor story” about her experience having a heart attack. Guests also enjoyed an interactive body language seminar by non-verbal communications expert and author Jan Hargrave. “Actions speak louder than words” was the theme of Hargrave’s presentation, and was especially fitting as proceeds from the event benefit the American Heart Association.
