Volunteer physicians affiliated with Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital are once again offering on-site sports physicals to Humble, New Caney and Sheldon ISDs' middle- and high-school athletes beginning in late March.
In addition, Memorial Hermann Northeast is offering on-site electrocardiograms for incoming ninth-grade student athletes who attend the middle schools affiliated with the Humble and New Caney high schools, and to all middle- and high-school athletes at Sheldon ISD. EKGs can detect problems with the electrical activity of the heart. The electrical system makes the heart contract and pump blood.

Physicals are required by the University Interscholastic League (UIL) for any student who wishes to participate in athletics. Results are reported to each athlete on site along with a recommended follow-up if problems are detected.
Questions about the screenings should be directed to the student’s coach or the school athletic trainers.
Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital is the official sponsor of Humble and New Caney ISDs' athletics. The hospital has sponsored a wide range of educational programs and screenings for student athletes, coaches and trainers.
