Aggie Moms make scholarship contributions to future aggies

The Kingwood/Humble Aggie Moms club is offering a scholarship to area high school seniors who plan to attend Texas A&M (College Station) or Texas A&M (Galveston) in the Fall 2015 semester. The club serves the Kingwood, Humble, Atascocita, Porter, Huffman, Splendora and New Caney areas. Applications and information for completing the application are available in the college rooms or counseling offices at area high schools, including Atascocita, Humble, Kingwood, Kingwood Park, New Caney, Porter, Quest and Summer Creek high schools, and Northeast Christian Academy. The scholarship information can also be found at khaggiemoms.org. Applications must be postmarked by March 1 to be eligible for consideration. Last year, the club awarded scholarships to 16 seniors.

Kingwood Humble Aggie Moms was established in 1984, and is one of over 100 Aggie Moms Clubs across the country. The club is a recognized 501c3 organization formed exclusively for charitable and educational purposes. The members provide support for current and former students of Texas A&M University and their parents or guardians in several different ways. Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of every month at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Kingwood on West Lake Houston Parkway. Guest speakers from Texas A&M attend, such as Campus Security, Career Center and Carpool organization, and student awards are given at each meeting. Twice a year, at final exam time, parents send goodie bags of homemade cookies and treats to their students; the bags are delivered to the Galveston and College Station campuses by a convoy of Aggie Moms. The club makes annual donations to student organizations, and last year, donated to over 40 TAMU clubs. The ladies attend Parents’ Weekend in April, and sell items from their Aggie Moms Boutique. The organization recently held its main fundraiser, the 4th annual Traditions Banquet, on November 12 at The Overlook. The event featured a dinner, both silent and live auctions, a raffle, an Aggie boutique with handcrafted items made by the Aggie Moms, and guest speaker Dave South, beloved TAMU sports announcer. The $16,000 in proceeds from this event will be used for the scholarships due March 1. In July, the club will host its annual Howdy Party for all incoming and returning students.

Aggie Moms are proud of Texas A&M University and the daughters and sons they send there. The club truly values its ability to make a contribution: to the education of their Aggies, to the future of Texas A&M University and to the future of the Great State of Texas. Please apply for their scholarships so the club can give back to you!
