Online registration is now open for the Slam LAM 5K Walk to raise funds in honor of Kathi Hawn, who was diagnosed last year with Lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM), a progressive, and currently incurable, lung disease.
The walk will be held Saturday, March 21, beginning at 9 a.m. at the Residents Club Central in Summerwood, 14111 Summerwood Lakes Dr.
Supporters can register at SlamLAM5k.com, with 100 percent of all proceeds going directly to the national LAM Foundation in honor of Hawn, a longtime resident of Summerwood, who also worked for many years in the community’s information center.
Registration is $25 for adults and $15 for children age 12 and under until March 10. After March 10, the fee increases $10. All participants will receive a goodie bag and event T-shirt.
The Slam LAM 5k Walk is a family friendly event; leashed dogs are also welcome.
Check in will begin at 8 a.m. with goodie bag pickup, followed by group stretching and the walk starts at 9. A post-walk party and breakfast start at 9:45 a.m.
The Slam LAM 5K is being sponsored by Newland Communities, developer of Summerwood. Sponsorship opportunities are also available for the event, with information at the website.
