Noah Tekulve, 18, a senior at Atascocita High School, was recently presented with an Eagle Scout award after earning a record 34 Merit badges. The troop, sponsored by the Humble Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, represents more than 410,000 LDS Scouts in the U.S. The presentation to Tekulve included an American flag from Congressman Ted Poe that had flown over the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. Keynote speaker for the event was Air Force Lt. Col. (Ret.) John Heimburger, Kingwood VFW Post 12075 Surgeon. Also present at the well-attended ceremony was retired AF Master Sgt. James Haycraft who started the first special education troop in the United States at Langley AFB, Va. Haycraft, Post 12075 Adjutant, later worked with Boy Scout troops in Saigon, Vietnam.
