It’s that time of the year again and November 1 is fast approaching. In the past, Post 12075 has had to go outside its support area and on occasion outside its District to procure entrants for the Voice of Democracy and Patriot’s Pen contests.

For those who have children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews who could use some financial aid for their educatio, the contests offer cash prizes. Doiesn't $30,000 sound good?

Encourage the school age children in your family circle to participate. Don’t use the excuse they attend parochial school, private school or they are home schooled. The program is open to all of the above.

Do you know an authority in your school’s PTA/PTO? Let the Adjutant know their name and phone number so he can solicit an invitation to address their group. Teachers, the VFW will be glad to give a presentation to any of the PTA/PTOs. They will also be more than happy to participate in a Q/A session with students in any classroom at their expense. Many of the veterans are well versed in teaching and as a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution said recently, “You are living examples of history.”

The theme for this year’s Voice of Democracy is “Why Veterans are Important to our Nation's History and Future” and the theme for Patriot’s Pen is “Why I Appreciate America's Veterans.”
