Kingwood Medical Center welcomed the first babies born in its new Women and Childrens Center May 1. The grand opening of the $80 million, 155,400 square-foot Women and Childrens Center expansion was celebrated April 29. Dr. Sujatha Mohan helped Leslie and Francisco Gonzales welcome their son, Aiden, into the world at 2:57 p.m. Baby Aiden weighs 6 pounds and 7 ounces and is 22.5 inches long. The Gonzales family is from Houston. This is the high school sweethearts' first baby. The couple said they were extremely surprised to learn Aiden was the first baby born in the new Women and Childrens Center. We arrived at the hospital around 1:30 a.m. on May 1st after I had contractions all night, said Leslie Gonzales. This was our first time to visit this hospital and everything was perfect. Dr. Mohan, the nurses and the hospital staff were very attentive and kind; and the nurses were very helpful and encouraging throughout the whole experience." The rooms are beautiful, very spacious, and comfortable; and we like the privacy. Our nurses were extremely helpful and they made our stay here wonderful, said Francisco Gonzales. Soon after Aiden was delivered, The Women and Childrens Center welcomed its first set of twins born in the new Tower at 3:16 p.m. and 3:20 p.m. Dr. Joseph Petty assisted Baily and Mike Gibson with the natural birth of their baby boys, Trip weighing 6 pounds, 2 ounces and 18.5 inches long; and Gunner weighing 5 pounds, 13 ounces and 18.5 inches long. Baily and Mike Gibson are from Livingston and this was their first time visiting Kingwood Medical Center. We arrived to The Women and Childrens Center at 11:30 a.m. and within five minutes we were moved into a room. We felt like we received the royal treatment. We loved all the attention, and enjoyed all the amenities. We were the first to deliver in the operating room as a precaution and there were multiple people assisting with the delivery and making sure everything went smoothly. I was 35 weeks and three days to full term. We didnt find out the gender of our babies until they were born. We are thrilled we have two healthy baby boys, said Baily Gibson. We loved our experience here; and felt like we were staying at a beautiful hotel. I am very grateful for the excellent care we received and for our wonderful doctor, the nurses and staff for being so friendly and helpful, said Mike Gibson. The Gibson twins have two older siblings, Ty and Brenna, who are very excited to share their lives with their new baby brothers. Both families received special gift baskets from the hospital in honor of delivering the first baby and first set of twins born in the new Women and Childrens Center.
