New stained glass windows installed at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church
- Written by Jeffry Tupa
On Sunday, May 11 Good Shepherd Episcopal Church dedicated 24 additional stained glass windows. All of these are at upper levels on both sides of the church, depicting a number of biblical symbols. In addition, two larger windows will be installed at the rear of the church depicting Jesus with the children and the Good Samaritan. All of these windows have been made possible by donations from generous parishioners in memory of loved ones or thanksgiving for family and friends. The work was crafted by Statesville Stained Glass Company in Statesville, N.C., which has completed many wonderful projects in churches both in the U.S. and abroad. The colored glass obtained from several countries has been designed, cut, painted and fired prior to creating the final form using the traditional lead profile method. These additional windows complete the total stained glass windows project for Good Shepherd which began in 2003 when 12 windows were installed. These 12 windows are at ground level depicting scenes from both the Old and New Testaments and four windows in the chapel depicting the healing miracles.
