Humble rodeo coming to town

Cutline: A 14-year old cowgirl does one of the most dangerous tricks on her horse at last years Humble Rodeo at the Humble Civic Center. The 67th annual Humble Rodeo officially kicks off at 4 p.m. Jan. 31 with the BBQ Cook-Off. The rodeo, which starts Wednesday, Feb. 5, when livestock is moved in, will be held at the Humble Civic Center in Humble. Rodeo performances will be held Feb. 7 8 beginning at 7 p.m. Gates open at 5:30 p.m., and the rodeo concert performances start at 9 p.m. This years concert performers will be country stars Rodney Atkins on Feb. 7 and Kevin Fowler on Feb. 8. The Humble Rodeo features all seven rodeo events sanctioned by the Cowboys Professional Rodeo Association and United Professional Rodeo Association. The BBQ Cook-Off is held on a 10-acre parking lot adjacent to the Humble Civic Center and has attracted 65 teams in the past two years. Admission to the BBQ Cook-Off is $10 for those over 21 years of age and $5 for everyone under 21. The wristband purchased for admission is good for both nights of the cook off.
