HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood has been designated a Level III Trauma Center by the Texas Department of State Health Services after demonstrating its ability to provide advanced trauma life support, evaluation, stabilization and diagnostic services. The hospital is the only Level III Trauma Center in East Montgomery County.
"HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood is already known for our commitment to pursuing excellence in care,” said John Corbeil, CEO. “With this Level III designation, we will continue to meet the needs of our growing community by providing quality trauma intervention and treatment.”
According to the Texas Department of State Health Services, a Level III Trauma Center has a predetermined and organized response to managing and improving the care of severely injured people. It also provides a foundation for disaster preparedness and response.
At HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood, trauma surgeons, specialists and hospital staff are available 24 hours a day to respond to trauma emergencies. Specially trained nurse clinicians attend to each trauma patient for care advancement and coordination. Trauma data is collected and entered into a registry database for quality-improvement and injury-prevention initiatives. In addition, the trauma coordinator provides trauma education throughout the hospital. All hospital departments stand prepared for quality trauma care.
"HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood is proud to offer this level of trauma service for the better care of patients," said Dr. Nicole Tapia, trauma medical director. “A Level III designation validates that our facility has the expertise and resources to provide quality care to trauma patients.”
HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood is part of HCA Healthcare’s Gulf Coast Division, which provides an integrated trauma system that includes AIRLife, the health system’s air ambulance service for Harris and Montgomery counties and beyond. AIRLife personnel are trained to provide critical care treatment for stabilization of the patient en route to their destination.
“This designation builds upon our commitment to care and the improvement of human life,” said Corbeil. “We continue to elevate our level of care through advanced designations such as this.”
Additionally, the hospital offers a physician residency program that provide additional services to the community while training future physicians.
