Area residents can support Hopeful Hearts Ministry with a charitable donation and help spread hope and charm(s) to survivors of abuse. For every purchase of a specially designed Hopeful Hearts Ministry charm, another charm will be donated to a survivor of abuse. Founded and directed by Kingwood resident Shannon Deitz, Hopeful Hearts Ministry was created to give a voice to survivors of all forms of abuse, including sexual, physical and emotional. The triangle-shaped silver charm, which sells for $11.99, symbolizes victory, veneration (respect) and value. “This charm is a symbol of worth to all of us,” Deitz said. “When someone buys a charm, I then give one to a survivor of abuse to remind her or him of their victory, veneration and value. “We’re an outreach ministry helping alleviate the suffering of abuse survivors while helping them restore their self-worth,” said Deitz, international speaker and award-winning author of the book “Exposed: Inexcusable Me … Irreplaceable Him.” “An important aspect of our work is also educating the public on the devastating, far-reaching effects of abuse, so that future cycles of abuse can be prevented,” Deitz said. Hopeful Hearts Ministry has been operating for four years, having assisted hundreds of abuse survivors. However the need is ever present, with statistics showing that one in four people have suffered some from some sort of abuse, according to Deitz.
