Teachers from Humble ISD, Spring ISD schools east of I-45, Lonestar College-Kingwood, Northeast Christian Academy and Holy Trinity Episcopal School were honored for their work in education. The selection process took place this past spring when educators from each campus selected their Teacher of the Year. Kathy Sealy, principal of Atascocita Springs Elementary, Humble ISD, described why she nominated Autumn Jackson for the award from ASE. “Autumn epitomizes the best in teaching, she is a beautiful role model. She’s beautiful on the inside as well on the outside. She is a giver and her spirit is filled with doing the right thing for kids. Her focus is on the children. She’s a master at every aspect of what she does, the kid piece, the parent piece and the community piece. We call her Awesome Autumn,” Sealy said. For her part, Jackson was very pleased to receive the award. “I feel completely honored. I love life, I love teaching. I love children . And I love people. I’m very passionate about every aspect of my life and I am very honored and blessed that God has given this opportunity to me and that I’m able to continue to give back,: said Jackson. Recipients of the award received a plaque, as well as certificates of recognition from U.S. Sen. Ted Poe, Texas Rep. Dan Huberty and Houston City Council member Dave Martin. In addition, recipients received gift certificates from Hasta La Pasta. The luncheon was presented by ShowBiz Cinemas and sponsored by Community Resource Credit Union, Deerbrook Mall, Joiner Partnership, Walden on Lake Houston as well as other organizations.
