The Atascocita High School National Honor Society held a ceremony at sunrise this morning to honor the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. The ceremony was from 6:45-7:10 a.m. at the flagpole in front of the campus. The AHS band, choir and ROTC were on hand for performances. Two teachers who lost family members in the attacks spoke in front of students and faculty during the ceremony. Students placed 2,978 miniature flags on campus grass to memorialize the 2,978 U.S. citizens who lost their lives 12 years ago.
