For its 67th year, the Crosby Fair & Rodeo will bring back the PRCA Championship Rodeo and mutton bustin’. Both of these exciting events will be held June 20-22. Sonny Armstrong, President, was proud to announce the new improvements made for the festivities. “The bucking chutes were delivered and installed in December. We purchased more panels and gates to make our small animals pen more users friendly,” said Armstrong. With new improvements and enticing events, there is an increase of participants that is expected. There are even professional cowboys entered in each event, from calf roping to bull riding. Following each rodeo event, the musical entertainment will feature artists such as Colt Ford, Crooked River Band, Tate Stevens, Sara Beth, Kevin Fowler and Breelan Angel. There is much excitement, particularly about Tate Stevens, winner of the “X-Factor,” according to Bill Busby in advertising. “This is his first show in Texas,” said Busby. Earlier in the week, there will also be a cook-off on June 14 and 15 where competitors in the past have brought tasty recipes to the table, whether secret or not. However, this year the max-capacity for the cook-off has been reached for the cooking teams. Categories for the event are fajitas (beef or chicken), margaritas, chicken, open dish, pork ribs, brisket and showmanship. There are also events for the children to participate in, including the carnival and mutton bustin.’ “There will also be a ‘little wrangler rodeo’ in the arena with rodeo clowns for the kids,” said Busby. Speaking of kids, the livestock auction gives any buyer the opportunity to support the Youth of the Crosby area though participation as a bidder. There are many sponsors for the fair and rodeo this year, including Faust Distributing, Sunbelt Rentals Pump & Power Services and Texan GMC Buick just to name a few. Proceeds support the Youth of Crosby and surrounding areas. The Crosby Fair & Rodeo will also be giving out $5,000 scholarships to outstanding Crosby High School seniors.
