The 11th annual In The Pink luncheon was held Friday, Oct. 19 at the Marriott Airport. The sold-out event drew more than 350 guests who enjoyed a Champagne reception, a raffle and auction and then two fabulous speakers. Leslie Raffa, co-owner of Amedeo’s and Raffa’s restaurants, shared her moving personal experience with breast cancer. Panera Bread owner Keith Isbell gave a riveting speech about his current journey with cancer.
The year-long project is being chaired by Cristi Cardenas and Cynthia Calvert and is an outreach project of the Northeast Hospital Foundation. More than 80 women serve on the various committees.
The Northeast Hospital Foundation has over 30 years of fundraising experience, raising over $3.5 million to date. In the Pink has been the premiere breast cancer luncheon in the Lake Houston area allocating funds toward Project Mammogram, the Memorial Hermann Cancer Center Northeast and other programs of the foundation.
Project Mammogram is a flagship community program of the Northeast Hospital Foundation that has grown to affect the lives of over 9,000 Lake Houston residents. Project Mammogram’s service area extends to Northeast Harris, Montgomery and Liberty Counties. Last year Project Mammogram performed 555 services including screening and diagnostic mammograms to qualifying women in our community. Eight women required biopsies and four are currently under treatment.
The first annual Play For The Pink golf tournament was held Oct. 26 at the Atascocita Golf Club and was a huge hit. On May 4, the Pink Tea will be held. Visit NortheastHospitalFoundation.org for photos and current event information.
