Kingwood Medical Center and Dr. Petty helped Marta and Aureliano Peña, Jr. welcome their healthy newborn baby girl into the world at 10:45 a.m. on January 1, 2013. Her name is Eliana Peña and she weighs 7 lbs and 3 oz and is 19 ½ inches long. The Peña’s are from Humble, Texas and this is their first daughter. Baby Eliana’s older brother Isaac is very happy his sister has arrived and he can’t wait to take her home. The couple said they were pleasantly surprised when Eliana was born on New Year’s Day. Marta was scheduled to have a cesarean section on January 2, 2013, but her water broke a day early and her husband brought her to the hospital. “We’re so glad she is healthy and very thankful to all the hospital staff for making our delivery fast and efficient” said Marta Peña. “We came up to the hospital on December 31st and pre-registered and completed our pre-op, which made everything easy once we arrived. All the nurses and nursery staff have been so helpful and attentive; they are constantly checking up on us and have made our stay so enjoyable.” The Peña family received a special gift basket from the hospital in honor of delivering the first baby born in 2013 at Kingwood Medical Center. “We are honored that families in our community have chosen us to help welcome their children into the world and be part of their memories that will last a lifetime,” said Melinda Stephenson, CEO of Kingwood Medical Center. “Our team delivered more than 2,500 babies last year and we are committed to providing the best possible care for each mother, baby and family. We wish all the families in our community, a happy and healthy new year.”
