Resident celebrates 90 years in Vegas

Lou Prevost, a resident of Atasca Woods since 2001, will celebrate her 90th birthday Nov. 1. For this amazing milestone, she was recently treated to a five-day trip to Las Vegas, with her son, Murphy Hingle, and wife, Judy; granddaughter, Toni Hingle; and great-grandson Cole, all from Houston; and granddaughter Damie Kennedy and husband Frank, of Las Vegas. Everyone had so much fun making this birthday special. The only thing she said “no” about was joining 13-year-old Cole on the roller coaster at the New York New York Hotel! Lou was born and raised in New Orleans, and still enjoys making a huge pot of red beans and rice and many other Cajun dishes for her kids. Her specialty is fudge made from her favorite recipe in a cookbook published in 1943. She is well known around Humble for her love of shopping and finding bargains. She loves NFL football, especially The Saints, and watches all the professional games. Just don’t call her when “Wheel of Fortune” is on unless it’s really, really important. Lou is a member of the St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Humble. She also is a member of The Merry Widows, a monthly luncheon group of about 45 women sponsored by the First United Methodist Church in Humble, a group about friendships and moving forward after losing a spouse. She has been very active at The May Center in Huffman as well. At age 90, Lou still cleans her own house, does yard work, and is looking forward to her next trip to Holland. What an amazing life she lives, and she lives to the fullest every single day. Lou’s advice on how to live a long, healthy, active life, “Stay Busy!” Congratulations, “Gram,” and Happy 90th Birthday!
