This year the Lake Houston Area Chamber of Commerce hosted the 4th Annual Tasting the Town food and beverage event at the Humble Civic Center. At this event, attendees had the opportunity to vote in seven different categories for their choices of “best of” in each one. The winners have now been announced and have received their award plaques. The winning lineup is: “Best Appetizer” (which was a tie) went to both, Sorrento Ristorante Italiano (in Kingwood) and Hasta La Pasta (in Atascocita). IncrEDIBLE Delights (in Atascocita) was voted as the “Best Entrée” and they received a big thumbs-up as the “Restaurant Most Likely to Visit,” too. Voted having the “Best Dessert” was Nothing Bundt Cakes (in Atascocita), and the “Best Beverage” and “Best Decorated/Themed Booth” award goes to Kingwood Medical Center. For the non-food category of “Best Host Table,” the winner was 3 Divas Décor. The event itself was a huge success with thousands and thousands of people attending and over 40 food booths serving really tasty treats. Charles Wandall, Director of Food & Nutrition with Kingwood Medical Center, stated, “our motivation to be in the event was to participate in order to build our reputation and create better community awareness.” He continued by saying, “it was really fun to show everyone that our hospital food is very tasty, too.” The Kingwood Medical Center booth creatively displayed their food around the common items found in a hospital, but with a real twist. Their beverages were served as “shots,” but not as one would imagine. The team offered “shot syringes” (minus the needles, of course) filled with delicious beverages to drink. The displays alone created lots of laughs with the attendees. Some of the other samples of food included IncrEDIBLE Delights serving “Roasted Filet of Beef served over fingerling potato coins and pepperanata topped with wild mushroom ragout and sauce demi-glace, Baileys Cheesecake. A rich New York style cheesecake infused with bailey’s Irish crème and a dark chocolate ganache.” Sorrento Ristorante Italiano served “Crab meat stuffed crimini mushroom, Veal meatballs with garlic marinara, Caprese Crostini, wild mushroom and parmesan cheese risotto, and tiramisu cups.” Nothing Bundt Cakes served “cupcakes in flavors of Chocolate-Chocolate Chip, Red Velvet, White Chocolate Raspberry, and Lemon.” And Hasta La Pasta served lots of bite-sized nibbles from their restaurant’s favorite menu items. 2012 Tasting the Town's People's Choice Awards (from top left clockwise): Best Appetizer (tie) - Sorrento Ristorante Italiano and Hasta La Pasta, Best Entree and Restaurant Most Likely to Visit - incrEDIBLE Delights, Best Dessert - Nothing Bundt Cakes, Best Decorated/Themed Booth and Best Beverage - Kingwood Medical Center, and Best Host Table - 3 Divas Decor
