Kingwood Medical Center’s Pediatric Emergency Department celebrated its first anniversary with baked goods, balloons and beanie babies. The Pediatric Emergency Department has provided high quality, personalized, compassionate care to over 10,000 children, in a safe, comfortable and child-friendly environment close to home since August, 2015.
Kingwood Medical Center is the leading provider of Women and Children’s services. Melinda Stephenson, Chief Executive Officer, stated, “We are proud to offer the only pediatric emergency department in northeast Houston. Our board-certified pediatricians, emergency room physicians and registered nurses offer the expertise, technology, and gentle hands needed to treat all major and minor emergencies for children from newborns to 18-year-olds.”
On Aug. 10, Lionel Citizen brought his 1-year-old son to the Emergency Room at Kingwood Medical Center. Luckily for them, they were sent over to the Pediatric Emergency Department, where baby Tydius received specialized care. There is nothing more important than a child’s wellbeing, which is why experienced pediatric emergency care close to home is vital.
Kingwood Medical Center provides treatment for a range of pediatric specialties including cardiology, endocrinology, neurology, pulmonology, neonatology, ophthalmology and more.
If the child does need to be admitted to the hospital for further care, the transition to the Pediatric Specialty Unit is seamless. The Pediatric Emergency Center is located next door to the Women and Children’s Center and is open from 8 a.m.-midnight daily.
As Stephenson concludes: “The opening of our Pediatric Emergency Center reinforced our hospital's commitment to meet the present and future healthcare needs of the communities we serve. Quality care, close to home.”
