Giant Santa attraction benefits HAAM and thrills community

On Saturday, Dec. 12, John Franks’ 40-foot Santa provided a show in his Atascocita South neighborhood. Franks had not only his gigantic Santa on display, but also had a live Santa ready to take color pictures with any passersby who wished to be photographed with him. Franks not only gave neighbors free pictures and holiday beads as a way to bring fun to his neighborhood this holiday season, but also hoped to help a local charity in the process. He chose The Humble Area Assistance Ministries, better known as HAAM, as the beneficiary of this one-time opportunity for people to drop off toys for needy children, clothes, nonperishables and monetary contributions on this particular Saturday. “We had about 60 families come by and printed almost 100 pictures with Santa,” said Franks. “We also collected one and a half boxes of toys, and received about $300 in monetary donations.” For more information, visit www.haamministries.org.
