“Bikers and Bling- Hog Wild for Education” Get out your best “biker-bling” attire and join the fun at this year’s Humble ISD Education Foundation Gala. The festivities begin at 6:30 p.m. Friday, April 3 at the Humble Civic Center, 8233 Will Clayton Parkway. According to Carol Sutton, publicity chair, Humble ISD Superintendent Dr. Guy Sconzo is fond of motorcycles, so the theme “Bikers and Bling – Hog Wild for Education” seemed fitting. Guests are encouraged to have fun with the theme and dress in “biker attire.” Fabulous food and a great time is assured for all. Triggs Catering will provide the delicious buffet-style dinner, and fun music and entertainment will be provided by the funk band Fried Ice Cream. Both silent and live auctions will take place. One featured item will be an outdoor kitchen made by Humble Middle School Students utilizing reclaimed wood from Hurricane Ike, along with a biker barbecue pit made by students at Atascocita High School. Other auction items include a luxury suite for an Astro’s game, donated by Administaff; a ladies’ Rolex watch, donated by Thomas Markle Jewelers; an authentic Italian dinner served at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Guy Sconzo; a Party Bus to L’Auberge du Lac for 45 with drinks and snacks, donated by Club Works and Planet Ford; use of the Sports Authority luxury box at Minute Maid Park with $1000 towards food and beverage, donated by Jess and Danell Fields; Lasik eye surgery, donated by Berkeley Eye Center; and an eight-day Mexican Villa Vacation, donated by John and Jeanne Simonetti. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Innovative Education Grant Program. This program provides grants and funding for school projects that cannot fit into the standard school budget. In a recent press release, Karen Perkins, the district’s community development director, said that last year 112 projects were awarded a grant from the Foundation in 36 schools, for a total of $286,961. Individual tickets to the gala are $100. Sponsorships range in price from $2,000-$10,000. Each sponsorship includes premier seating and special recognition at the event.
