“101 Dalmatians” and “The Aristocats” return to Centre Stage

“It’s a dogs and cats double bill attraction” says Barry Dean, Centre Stage founding artistic director. Act 1 will be Disney’s “101 Dalmations” and Act 2 will be Disney’s “The Aristocats.” This return engagement will be performed by the students of Centre Stage Theatrical School and promises to deliver the same live action excitement as the Disney films they were adapted from. “101 Dalamatians” includes musical numbers “Dalmatian Conga,” “Kanine Krunchies,” “Dalmatian Plantation” and the unforgettable “Cruella de Vil” while the jazzy score of “The Aristocats” will have those crazy Parisian cats performing film classics like “Everybody Wants to be a Cat,” “Thomas O’Malley Cat,” “Use your Nose” and “Scales and Arpeggios.” This encore presentation will in part benefit several area animal rescue and adoption organizations. Kay Pass from AABY Bark Park is working with Centre Stage to coordinate the event with other dedicated animal rights advocates including Shirley Walsh from Volunteers for Animal Protection, Doddie Olson from Bright and Beautiful Therapy Dogs and Robert Sherwood from Kingwood Kennels Furry Friends. Patrons attending the performances will be given a free raffle ticket for each can or bag of dog or cat food they bring with them to donate. Food collected will benefit Twyla’s Friends, VAP, The Friendship Center and St. Stephens. A special appearance and visit with Clifford, The Big Red Dog, will also be a wonderful addition to this already heart-warming and worthy event. The show runs Nov. 7-9 at The Nathaniel Center, 804 Russell Palmer Road in Kingwood with performances Friday, Nov. 7 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 8 at 1:30, 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. and the final performance Sunday, Nov. 9 at 3 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online at www.tix.com. The Saturday 4:30 p.m. show will be offering scouts a “meet and greet” with the cast and crew, as well as a backstage tour. For more information call 281-540-0078.
