Fun, live entertainment, refreshments and many great prizes await as the 7th annual Opry in Humble comes to the Humble Civic Center Aug. 1, 7-10 p.m. The event is presented by Harris County Precinct 4’s Senior Adult Program. This annual fundraiser, featuring the Hometown Opry Band, will be sponsored by Texas Health Spring, a Medicare Advantage Plan. Tickets will be sold at the door-for $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 12 and under. Many area entertainers, including various Country music groups, will perform throughout the event. Raffle tickets will be sold at the door until the drawing at intermission. Some of the prizes include: a $2,000 Visa gift card, a 42-inch, flat-panel HDTV, a digital camera and photo printer, and a Nintendo Wii. All proceeds raised in the event will directly benefit the Senior Adult Program. Harris County Precinct 4 uses fundraiser profits to put together fun events for the Senior Adult Program, otherwise known as S.A.F.E. (Senior Adult Fun Events). Throughout the year, seniors are able to take day trips to museums, festivals, concerts, plays and sporting events, free of charge or at low cost. “The Opry is going to be a lot of fun,” said Jan Allison, director of the Senior Adult Program.
