Six months of devotion to raising money for the Atascocita Library or for any project is not an easy task, but that is exactly what Becky Berry, president of the Friends Of Atascocita Library, did. Berry, who credits her group for a lot of hard work, raised enough money to purchase new computers for the library. “Becky devoted a lot of her money and six months of her personal time to make this happen,” said Peggy Alcorn, vice president of FOAL. A check for $21,730 was presented to Rhoda Goldberg, interim director of the Harris County Library. “Every day you go above and beyond; we thank you for your leadership,” said Goldberg as she accepted the check from Berry. “This is enough money to purchase an additional three computers for the library. We thank all of you.” Jerry Eversole, commissioner for Harris County Precinct 4, added to the festivities by proclaiming Jan. 23, 2008, Becky Berry Day. To further salute the work of FOAL, Nancy Crabb, wife of Texas State Representative, District 127, Joe Crabb, presented Berry with a flag that had been flown over the state capitol building and a proclamations naming Berry a ‘Volunteer Extraordinaire.’ For additional information about FOAL, visit Photo: It’s a ribbon cutting day for Becky Berry, center, in celebration of the new computers for the Atascocita Library.
