Kingwood Area Republican Women recently donated fifteen books to Kingwood Library. The books were selected from the Mamie Eisenhower Library Project list, called “MELP” for short. MELP books generally showcase American values and conservative principles and, as a group, are suitable for library patrons of all ages. The following books were given in honor of Past Presidents of KARW: “The Founders and the Classics” by Carl Richard-----Peggy Englehardt, Past President 1979 “Speaking My Mind” by Ronald Reagan-----Patti Johnson, Past President 1980 “The Federalist Papers” by Mary Webster-----Pat Wall, Past President 1981 “Code Talker” by Joseph Bruchac-----Judy Sprigg, Past President 1982 “Washington’s Crossing” by David Fischer-----Linda Kinney, Past President 1983 “The American Revolution” by Steve Sheinkin-----Cathy Wheatley, Past President 1984 “Which Way to the Wild West?” by Steve Sheinkin-----Carla Copp, Past President 2001 “The Essential American” by Jackie Cushman-----Betty Newton, Past President 2010-2011 Other books were given in honor of Board Members who are leaving the Board after years of outstanding service and who had never before been an honoree: “Tocqueville: Democracy in America” by Alexis de Tocqueville-----Kathryn Dahlin “Ronald Reagan: An American Hero” by DK Publishing-----Nancy Fulton “Marshall, the Courthouse Mouse” by Cheryl Barnes-----Lanelle Johnston “Interpreting the Founding” by Alan Gibson-----Skippy Lupton “Woodrow, the White House Mouse” by Cheryl Barnes & Peter Barnes-----Marian Manchack “Rendezvous With Destiny” by Craig Shirley-----Elaine Scott “Ronald Reagan: 100 Years” by the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation, was donated in honor of Rebecca Bradford, 2011 President of TFRW.
