Mu Pi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International (DKG) awarded three $1,000 grants Sunday to graduating senior women planning to pursue a career in education. 
Emily Anthony, a New Caney High School senior, won the Sharon Kolbe Recruitment Grant. Anthony will attend Texas A&M University in College Station this fall, and major in special education. 
Taylor Swanson, a senior at Kingwood High School, won the Stephanye Sampley Recruitment Grant. Swanson plans to teach middle school history and will begin her studies in August at Texas Tech University in Lubbock. 
Olivia C. Allen, another New Caney High School senior, won the Dr. Jane Nelson Recruitment Grant. Allen is interested in both history and special education and will study at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville. 
The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International promotes professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education. Diane Newport is president of Mu Pi chapter which is comprised of key women educators from Humble ISD, New Caney ISD, Huffman ISD and Lone Star College.
