The Humble Area Retired Teachers Association (HARTA) recently presented a plaque of appreciation to Sen. Brandon Creighton, thanking him for his support in the last legislation session. The legislature passed a plan to make the Teacher Retirement System of Texas pension fund actuarially sound for the first time in many years. This landmark legislation will affect all current and future retirees for decades to come. Creighton commented that it could not have happened without the tireless work of retirees across Texas. Pictured with Creighton are Pat Kahak, HARTA president, and Carolyn Monroe, HARTA legislative chairman.
