Atascocita High School Choir is proud to announce that the A Cappella Choir was selected by the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) as an invited performing choir for the TMEA Convention 2017. Over 100 choirs submitted recordings for selection for the convention. Only five high school choirs were selected from across the state. The AHS Choir Department maintains an enrollment of more than 300 and is under the direction of Joe Weir, Carl Braden and Samantha Nalundasan. Weir is very excited to include recent graduates and some former students, now music colleagues, in upcoming performances. The choir is slated to perform Feb. 10 at 1:30 pm in the Texas Ballroom of the Grand Hyatt Hotel in San Antonio in conjunction with the annual TMEA Convention. They will also present a home concert on the evening of Feb. 2 at 7 p.m. in the AHS Performing Arts Center. About the choir being selected for this honor, Weir said, "We are proud of the legacy of choral excellence provided by the past decade of AHS choirs and look forward to sharing this major musical journey with our current students, former students and the membership of the Texas Music Educators Association in February."
