"During the past two years, we worked at raising more than $23,000 for an electronic marquee to replace the old school sign," said Oaks Elementary PTA volunteer Herbert Gordon. The previous sign was about 20 years old. As it aged, the sign’s case became cracked and water leaked inside. Mold was spreading in the case and on the letters. The sign was difficult to maintain, difficult to read, and difficult to replace the letters while holding up the heavy old cover," said Gordon. “We wanted to replace it with something that could communicate multiple messages clearly and quickly.”
"The new electronic marquee will help our school communicate important dates and reminders to Oaks Elementary families and to the community in a timely way," said Oaks Elementary Principal Cheryl Fennell.
