Aggie Moms donate to memorial scholarship

The Kingwood Humble Area Aggie Moms Club recently donated to the Taylor Byron Roy Memorial Scholarship. Club President Joyce Briscoe said, “We are so glad that our fundraising efforts this year have allowed us to contribute to this worthy cause in memory of Taylor, one of our Kingwood Humble area Aggies. In addition we are also able to award this year four Incoming Freshman Scholarships, 19 Student Awards, a donation to the Aggie Moms room just built at the MSC on the main campus, and donations to 45 organizations on the Texas A & M campuses.” The scholarship fund was established after Roy, a graduate of Kingwood High School and a student at Texas A&M University at Galveston at the time, died on March 17 of this year. While attending school in Galveston, Roy majored in Maritime Administration and was employed with Galveston Aviation Services where he enjoyed greeting the passengers and met a few celebrities as well. He was a member of Strawbridge United Methodist Church where he participated in Youth Mission trips and D-Team. One of his proudest accomplishments was restoring a 1966 Chevrolet pickup with his father, extended family and friends. The donation from the Aggie Moms Club will benefit the Taylor Byron Roy Memorial Scholarship fund.
