St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Community begins its 100th year in the city of Humble Feb. 24. The church first appeared as St. Mary's Mission in the pages of the official Catholic Directory in the year 1911 as a mission of the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Magnolia Park (now a part of Houston). In 1915, the original St. Mary's Church was constructed on the corner of Avenue F and Higgins Street in Humble. It was later moved to the present site on Old Humble Road which is now South Houston Avenue. The current and ninth pastor, Fr. Michael Carmody, came to St. Mary's in 2009 and leads a growing church and school.
