“Citius – Altius – Fortius” was the theme for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Kingwood Stake’s 2016 Young Women’s Camp near Bryan, Texas. Each day focused on a different aspect of the Olympic motto with a spiritual twist: Tuesday – Faster to Serve, Wednesday – Higher in Our Goals, Thursday – Stronger in Our Faith …with the overarching principle: Always Steadfast in Christ!
All campers participated in two days of physical challenges that involved working as a team to complete an obstacle course and then returned for fun water games. The campers also rotated their time through creative crafts and a personal development program. Olympic-inspired pins were earned and traded throughout the week, becoming prizes for all campers. The group built lasting trust and relationships.
The young women also tied 50 fleece blankets to be given to Houston charities.
“Everyone will remember the hot and humid days of Young Women’s Camp with smiles and great joy,” said camp leader Leslie Goodman. “They will look upon this year’s camp as a home away from home where they became united as a sisterhood and stronger in their faith and desires to always follow Jesus Christ.”
