Humble roots bring business full circle Cutline: Mike Smith, Kathryn DioGuardi, Monica Zubia and Sherrie Bickford welcomed guests at Community Resource Credit Unions recent grand opening and tailgate party. Many from the community turned out for fun and free barbecue, as well as to try their MVP puzzle pieces which arrived in the mail. A fit equaled a great prize, including a 65-inch 3-D Smart TV. Community Resource Credit Unions recent grand opening and tailgate party were a huge success, as hundreds turned out to tour the new branch, eat barbecue from Tin Roof, win prizes and enjoy the games set up for children on the parking lot. Photos by Patsy Oliver When we opened the doors, we already had about 700 customers who live in this area. Mike Smith of Community Resource Credit Union (CRCU) explained that although the building is new, CRCUs newest addition is not unfamiliar to many area residents. As CRCU history explains, 1935 visionaries from Humble Oil in Baytown joined together to form a credit union, a not-for-profit financial cooperative. Today that credit union has evolved into Community Resource Credit Union. As most in the area know, Humble Oil later became known as Exxon, now ExxonMobil. CRCU has three Baytown locations and one in Crosby. With numerous customers living in the area already, many of whom are ExxonMobil employees or retirees, the next natural step was to open a branch here. CRCU celebrated the grand opening of its 6903 Atascocita Road branch Jan. 25 with an MVP celebration and tailgate party. Hundreds stopped in for free barbecue prepared by the neighboring Tin Roof BBQ and to play the MVP puzzle for a chance to win prizes, including a 65-inch 3-D Smart TV. Among its many amenities the new branch offers state-of-the-art dialogue towers that replace the traditional teller line, providing a more personal interaction. It is full-service providing a wide range of financial products and services including checking, savings, investments, auto loans, mortgage loans and business lending services. The lobby hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. with the drive-in open Monday - Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. CRCU is located at 6903 Atascocita Road, next to Tin Roof BBQ. Their number is 281-422-3611.
