On Tuesday, Dec. 10, Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner and Houston Mayor Pro Tem Dave Martin had the opportunity to speak to the Lake Houston Area Chamber of Commerce Leadership Class 9 as part of their Government Day. Following the productive conversation on how City of Houston government works, Leadership Class 9 had the chance to stay and be recognized at a public session in City Council Chambers.



Kelsey-Seybold Clinic recently opened the much-anticipated Kingwood Clinic, a stand-alone, three-story, multi-specialty clinic replacing the original location damaged by Hurricane Harvey in 2017. The new Kingwood Clinic is located at 25553 U.S. Hwy. 59 in unincorporated Montgomery County on the northbound side of Highway 59, just north of Northpark Drive. The new clinic offers patients the convenience of new diagnostic services, including 3D digital mammography, cardiac stress testing, and mobile CT and MRI, in addition to the services offered previously, including X-rays and ultrasound testing. Patients will also be able to fill and pick up prescriptions onsite at the expanded pharmacy.


As many residents are aware, Hamblen Road is plagued with many potholes and poor road conditions. The City of Houston’s District E office has been awarded a project to proceed with a mill and overlay of Hamblen Road from Loop 494 to Lisa Lane. Milling consist of removing the current pavement which will be followed by an overlay, the application of a new layer of pavement. District E staff has met with Houston Public Works to discuss the preliminary design and provide feedback on behalf of the surrounding communities to consider as they finalize design logistics. Houston Public Works has also been asked to evaluate the open ditches along Hamblen Road. The project is street resurfacing only, and not an expansion. The anticipated project start date will be sometime this spring.
