As tables on the patio are being set in preparation for the Friday night crowd, the sun’s bright light causes the water in the distance to sparkle. Bottles of wine line the shelves awaiting the night’s visitors and flickering candle light bounces off table tops. “Our goal is to revolutionize the wine experience. We like to make the experience of wine approachable,” said Sarah Jaynes, general manager of The Tasting Room at Kings Harbor. “We are committed to providing excellent service,” she continued. Whether looking for a place to host a private event or just looking to enjoy a nice meal with family and friends, customers can find it at The Tasting Room. Opened in March 2012, this family-owned company has quickly become a place for community members to gather. The Tasting Room offers an extensive wine menu and their food is top-knotch. “We offer more than 140 different wines from all over the world including wines that are exclusive to The Tasting Room,” said Jaynes. “Our entry point for a bottle of wine starts at $29, and any bottle of wine you drink, you can take home,” she continued. When it comes to food, The Tasting Room does it right. On their menu, which changes seasonally, customers will find items like their popular Carolina pulled pork nachos and Nutella brownies as well as delicious gourmet delicacies like truffle-parmesan fries and pan-seared redfish. “We like to use as much local ingredients as possible ... cheeses from Houston Dairymaids, bread from Slow Dough Bread Co. and whatever else we can find locally,” said Jaynes. “We are lucky to have a wonderful chef, Chef Brian, who helps craft a one-of-a-kind menu.” Guests are invited to take advantage of happy hour specials Tuesdays through Fridays from 4-7 p.m. and enjoy live music Fridays and Saturdays. Saturdays, customers can also enjoy seven tastings for just $10 from 3-5 p.m. The Tasting Room offers wine classes as well. Classes are $35 and include appetizers and five-nine tastings. On June 19, at 6:30 p.m., the Tasting Room will offer a Champagne class led by the brand ambassador for Perrier Jouet. Whether hosting events to support local charities or sending Chef Brian to teach nutritional classes in local schools, the Tasting Room has quickly evolved into a loyal resident. “We want to invest in the community and we are really involved. We embrace giving back. Most recently, we took part in Sip, Savor & Stroll which benefited the Kingwood Montessori School,” said Jaynes. “We want to be a conduit; we want to support you,” she continued.
