FamilyTime Crisis and Counseling Center was recently awarded a $10,000 grant as part of Marshall’s-Humble grand re-opening ceremony.

POKER RUN PLANNED

The Lake Houston Area Young Entrepreneurs and Professionals program will host a poker run Thursday, Aug. 2, starting at 5:30 p.m. at The Overlook. The event’s purpose is to promote nonprofit organizations in the Lake Houston area to the young professional community. Participants must visit a number of sites, collecting a playing card at each one, the winner being the one who collects the best poker hand. YEP members and guests will join together in teams of four. The team with the best poker hand will be the winner. YEP members can participate for free. Guests may pay $15 to attend. SALUTE TO HEALTH CARE AWARDS SET

Finalists have been selected for the health care professional awards, who will be honored at the Salute to Health Care luncheon presented by Independent Bank Kingwood and Kingwood Medical Center at The Overlook at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 24. Award honorees are individuals whose acts of service represent a display of dedication to excellence in their area of expertise beyond the scope of their jobs. The ideal winner will have displayed a commitment to their profession and community, serving as an inspiration to others in an effort to improve the quality of healthcare and discover new ways to assist those in need. HEGAR DISTRIBUTES $759 MILLION

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar recently announced that he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts $759 million in local sales tax allocations for July, 11.6 percent more than in July 2017. These allocations are based on sales made in May by businesses that report tax monthly.
