Agent Spotlight: Joan Imperato, RE/MAX Northeast How long have you been a Realtor, and what led you to become one?   I have been a Realtor since 1985. I was a history major in college and then received my masters in teaching. Although my teaching career was shortened due to the birth of my children, I always enjoyed the educational process. It was an easy transition to real estate where I could combine educating individuals, building a foundation of good information and helping buyers make an educated decision and find a home. Anyone can unlock a door and walk you through a home, but a professional will guide, teach and educate. That has always been my goal. What is the most expensive home you’ve ever sold?  In my career I have sold $60,000 homes and a $6 million home. No matter what the price range, every buyer and seller receives the complete attention from me and my two assistants, JR and Elizabeth. What do you think about the market at this time?  The current real estate market is complicated. At this time of the year, there is much uncertainty and concern.  So much depends on job growth or loss, consumer confidence, job security, interest rates, new rules and regulations in the mortgage industry and corporate relocations, plus so much more. Our market is not bad; it continues to be challenging. As long as I have been active in the real estate profession, I have seen highs and lows. But people have always purchased homes in good times and not so good times. Houston has never suffered from dramatic gains or losses in real estate values and I expect that trend to continue. Only time will tell, but I remain cautiously optimistic and proactive with my customers and clients about the real estate market.
