LSCS chancellor appoints interim CEO at LSC-University Park

Penny Westerfeld has been named interim chief executive officer for Lone Star College-University Park. Her assignment officially began last week.
A native Houstonian and Kingwood resident, Westerfeld has worked for the Lone Star College System for 30 years, serving most recently as the interim president of LSC-Montgomery. She has also served as executive director of LSC-University Center; vice president of community and economic development at LSC-Kingwood and dean of community education, as well as associate dean for business and technology; and as a professor at LSC-North Harris.
Westerfeld’s career awards include: “Visionary” Woman-of-Achievement award ; an exemplary program award recipient by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board; Outstanding Training Provider team award recipient for the National Workforce Training Act; Texas Business Education Teacher-of-the-Year; and the Woman of Distinction Award by the American Association of Women in Community Colleges.
Westerfeld is a graduate of Sam Houston State University with a bachelor’s of business administration degree and the University of Houston with a master’s of education degree.
