Keller Williams Realty ranks third in nation

– Custer makes his stand as new team leader – At a time when other companies are downsizing and introducing cutbacks and layoffs, Keller Williams Realty recently became the third-ranking national realty firm measured by the number of real estate agents – more than 70,000 agents in almost 700 offices nationwide – according to Bill Custer, the new Keller Williams Realty Northeast team leader. Custer said one reason for the company’s success is due to the fact that Keller Williams Realty has no debt and makes it their practice to balance the budget every month. Having lived in the Kingwood/Humble/Atascocita area a short time, Custer said he chose this location over Sacramento and Boca Raton because of its proximity to the airport, Austin, San Antonio, the Gulf Coast and the metropolitan Houston area. Professional sports teams and the theatre district also helped make up his mind to join Keller Williams Realty Northeast, along with the friendliness of the owners, agents and staff. Custer said his expectation when relocating to the Houston area was anonymity in a big city atmosphere but he quickly learned this area has a small-town attitude and that is one thing he loves about the area. He likes the friendliness of the people, both on a personal level and in business. He also likes the climate, which is a big contrast from the usual three feet of winter snow found in the Lake Tahoe area. As a broker from Nevada, Custer said Keller Williams Realty’s dedication to education, top-quality client services, professional business ethics and values are what attracted him to the company, where he was among the top-producing one percent of all Realtors in the Reno area. He made the decision to take on the responsibilities as team leader because it allows him to set new goals – to work with the agents and help them develop their careers. “It’s a leadership role. My responsibility is to help them grow their business to whatever level they personally want to achieve,” said Custer. “The local housing market is not on the roller-coaster ride found in other parts of the country, and we’re still seeing fairly level pricing here. When customers are looking around the Kingwood, Atascocita and Humble areas, they’re seeing more Keller Williams Realty signs than any other by 30 percent. We’re in a buyers’ market – count your blessings every day, as my grandmother used to say,” he said. Also part of his role as team leader is to provide three training sessions weekly in the Kingwood office, consult with agents and coach them on how to reach their goals. Custer said another thing that makes Keller Williams Realty a cut above the rest is their commitment to community, such as their yearly charity fundraisers and monthly free concert series at Kings Harbor.
