Aktion Club tours Kingwood Medical Center’s Pediatric Emergency Department.

Kingwood Medical Center hosted the Aktion Club, a group sponsored by Kiwanis International. Aktion Club is the only service club for adults with disabilities, with more than 12,000 members worldwide.

Aktion Clubs draw members from various organizations that support individuals with disabilities, such as Village Learning and Achievement Center. They meet monthly and complete community service projects for local organizations. The members of the Aktion Club enjoy “giving back” to their community, and often go on field trips as part of their meeting.

Kingwood Medical Center’s COO, Megan Marietta, assisted with the tour.

“We are celebrating 25 years of caring this year, and want our community to know about all of the great things happening here.”

The Aktion club was able to tour the Pediatric Emergency Department, which is the only dedicated ER for children in north Houston.

The Pediatric Emergency Department at Kingwood Medical Center is committed to providing the highest level of compassionate care to children in a safe, comfortable and child-friendly environment close to home. Their board-certified pediatricians with emergency room experience and registered nurses are skilled in caring for the needs of newborns to 18-year-olds.

“The opening of our Pediatric Emergency Center reinforces our hospital's commitment to meet the present and future healthcare needs of the communities we serve,” CEO Melinda Stephenson said.
