Investigation in Fatal Crash at 8600 Humble Westfield Road

Houston police are investigating the fatal hit and run crash that was discovered at 8600 Humble Westfield Road at about 9:35 a.m. on Sunday (January 22).
The identity of the female victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant K. Harris and Officer E. Rubio reported:
Officers responded to a report of a body found in a drainage ditch on the side of the roadway at the above address. The initial investigation revealed the victim appeared to have been walking on the north side of the roadway when she was struck by a vehicle of unknown make or model.
Humble School Board receives thanks, support

Lake Houston Chamber recognizes volunteers

“If I seem a little nervous, I am,” Scott Brady told well-wishers at the Lake Houston Chamber’s Annual Awards Extravaganza Jan. 20 at The Overlook in Atascocita.
Brady, architect and partner with Joiner Architects, was the 51st recipient of the Citizen of the Year award named in honor of Dr. Haden McKay, longtime mayor of Humble. He was selected by previous winners of the award.
State Rep. Dan Huberty, last year’s Citizen of the Year, said Brady “…IS Lake Houston. He grew up here. He lives here. He gives back here.

But first, get a taste of Texas the weekend before, Feb. 3-4, at the BBQ Cook-Off. Open to the public, pitmasters compete against each other to see who has the best chicken, ribs, pork and, of course, brisket. The cook-off is sanctioned and judged by the Kansas City Barbeque Society, the largest barbecue society in the world.
