Plan set for high school students

 Flood damage from Hurricane Harvey will keep Kingwood High School closed for the 2017-2018 school year, but after a lot of thought and community input, the district released a plan for KHS to share Summer Creek High School’s facility.

The district offered two scenarios to the faculty, families and staff of both schools over Labor Day weekend.

Water employees hold down the fort

As the rain from Hurricane Harvey started on Saturday, and most area residents were glancing outside and thinking about a run to the grocery store, a group of 30 people were gathered at Kingwood's water station, operated by Severn Trent Environmental, planning.

They knew the water system for Kingwood is a top priority, and they hunkered down for the storm.

Today, six days later, they are finally going home for the night.

They have not been home during the interval, sleeping at the Kingwood water plants.

Humble coping as refugees stream into Civic Center

 More than 200 Humble residents from the Northshire subdivision have sought refuge in the Humble Civic Center.

Norman Funderburk, city councilmember, said earlier today that the situation in Northshire is "terrible."
"We've been rescuing families out of Northshire through the night and this morning," he said.

Humble evacuating Northshire as river rises

The City of Humble, working under a proclamation of disaster, is working to contain the effects of Hurricane Harvey.

Assistant City Manager Jason Stuebe has been on duty since the storm began.

Stuebe said the water is rising quickly in the Northshire Subdivision, where voluntary evacuation is underway.
