Carney appointed to Pos. 6 on Humble school board

Colin Carney has been appointed to the vacant seat on the Humble ISD school board.

Carney, a CPA, is an asset and wealth management tax director at PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Field crowds with those eager for board appointment

There are 14 people who have applied to be appointed to the Humble ISD School Board. The vacancy, Position 6, occurred when former trustee Heath Rushing resigned earlier this year due to a job relocation. The appointment will extend until the May 2019 election.

Atascocita Golf Club, best deal in town for grand old course

When Atascocita Country Club opened in 1957 near the shores of newly constructed Lake Houston, it was in a forested swampland some would call “the boonies.” FM 1960 had just been paved as a single-lane road and the old “over-water crossing” of the San Jacinto River had just been replaced by the McKay Bridge over Lake Houston.

Bulldogs football hopeful for return to playoffs

After three years away from the Texas high school football playoffs, the Summer Creek Bulldogs football program is hoping for a 2017 return. The Bulldogs return a lot on offense including quarterback John Holcombe and are predicted as a playoff team by Dave Campbell’s Texas Football’s preseason magazine.

Veteran receives new canine companion

Rebuilding Warriors, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that provides service dogs to veterans, presented Service K9 Tex to Veteran Juan Solis at Humble’s Tin Roof Barbecue Saturday, July 22.

School lunch prices increase for 2017-2018 school year

The price of school lunch is going up. The Humble ISD Board of Trustees voted June 13 to increase lunch prices for the upcoming 2017-2018 school year. Lunch prices will be raised 5 to 15 cents per meal to comply with federal U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) regulations.
