The city of Humble organized a hurricane relief fund for the city of Golden Meadow, Louisiana. Mayor Norman Funderburk, left, and City Manager Jason Stuebe drove to Louisiana Sunday, Sept. 19 to bring a truck load of donations to the beleaguered city. Golden Meadow Mayor Joey Bouziga, left, was deeply appreciative of the efforts by the citizens of Humble and the Lake Houston area.

John McDonald rescues the most ‘vulnerable’ of abandoned dogs

The sight of Oscar and his littermates was heartbreaking. They were stuffed into a tiny crate and dumped on the side of the road just off FM 2100 and Plum Grove Road near Huffman. Scrawled on a piece of paper were the words “perros libres” — free dogs.

Newly built Autumn Creek Elementary opens

Autumn Creek Elementary opened its doors to students in August 2021 after nearly a year of construction.  “Ground was broken for Autumn Creek Elementary in October 2020 and the school opened in August 2021,” Brian Telford, Humble ISD executive director of construction, said.

Loop 494 construction delayed until 2022

The TxDOT funded Loop 494 expansion project is currently delayed and expected to be completed sometime in 2022. The project had recently been delayed into the third quarter of 2021, but ongoing circumstances have caused a further delay.

Humble organizes Hurricane Ida Relief Fund

It is time for Humble and Lake Houston to pay it forward. The city of Humble has organized a Hurricane Ida Relief Fund to assist Golden Meadow – a three-square-mile village in Lafourche Parish almost directly south of New Orleans and located practically in the Gulf of Mexico.
