HOUSTON -  City Council will hold three public hearings in the City Council Chamber, City Hall, 2nd Floor, 901 Bagby, to receive comments, suggestions, and alternate plans from the public regarding the Proposed City Council Redistricting Plan,in accordance with the City Charter, Article V, Sec. 3:

Animal shelters across the country are in crisis, and adoptable pets are at risk due to unprecedented overcrowding. Factors such as increased length of stay for pets, slowed adoptions, staffing issues, the current housing and rental crisis, and more have created a dire situation for our nation’s pets.

As many Houstonians prepare to kick off their Independence Day celebrations this weekend, BARC, the City of Houston's Animal Shelter and Adoption Center, is sharing tips for how to keep pets safe.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas—As Texans make plans to celebrate the Fourth of July with picnics, grilling, camping and fireworks, Texas A&M Forest Service asks everyone to be careful with any outdoor activity that may cause a spark. Approximately 90 percent of wildfires are caused by humans and their activities, and Independence Day is one of the top days for reported wildfires. With current drought conditions across most of the state, the public is encouraged to help protect Texas by preventing wildfires.

AUSTIN – The slips and boat ramps of Texas will soon buzz with activity as Fourth of July weekend approaches. Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) reminds boaters to follow basic safety precautions while on the water. Game wardens will join the United States Coast Guard and thousands of law enforcement officers on heightened alert for violations as part of Operation Dry Water, a nationally coordinated enforcement campaign focused on deterring boating under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

June 30, 2022 – The Harris County Flood Control District is monitoring the potential for heavy rainfall over the area with possible street flooding, especially southeast Harris County tonight into Friday.   The Flood Operations Team will monitor rainfall trends and check gages that measure rainfall amounts and water levels in bayous and creeks and coordinate with local, regional, and federal partners on the response and forecast of both heavy rainfall and potential flooding.
