Memorial Hermann Northeast holiday food drive helping families in Lake Houston community

The holidays will be a happier time for some families in the Lake Houston community as Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital employees and volunteers donated more than 930 pounds of food to Humble Area Assistance Ministries (HAAM) during the hospital’s Ninth Annual Holiday Food Drive.

Humble council, police award commendation to local hero

Humble Police Chief Delbert Dawes presented a Citizen Commendation award to Damian Decuir at the Dec. 8 city council meeting. Dawes was joined by Mayor Merle Aaron and the full council in thanking Decuir for his heroic efforts in saving two young people, ages 15 and 16, from significant injury.
Rezoning issue pulled at board meeting

A controversial agenda item was pulled from the Humble ISD school board's Dec. 13 agenda.
The item had to do with re-zoning students from Atascocita Springs and Eagle Springs elementary schools to an unnamed campus in a new subdivision, The Groves, off West Lake Houston Parkway. The board made no official statement explaining the reasoning behind its decision to pull the item.
One concerned district parent, Scott Hutchins, spoke to the board in public comment addressing a possible oversight in the district's proposed re-zoning initiative.
Atascocita Eagles lose to Lake Travis

The Atascocita Eagles suffered a fatal blow to their state championship aspirations at the hands of Lake Travis, falling one game short of the 6A Division I state title game.
After last week’s overtime win in a thriller against North Shore, Atascocita traveled to San Antonio to square off against the Region IV champion, Lake Travis. Lake Travis and Atascocita met in the Alamodome on Saturday afternoon and to the surprise of many, the game was a relatively one-sided affair. Lake Travis defeated the Eagles 63-21 to advance to the 6A-DI state championship where they will play The Woodlands on Saturday, Dec. 17, at 8 p.m.
